The SANDVIK COROMANT 5745644 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in R390 series face and shoulder milling cutters. Carrying manufacturer grade 1020, this insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering heat and wear resistance suited to demanding cutting operations. The insert measures 3.59 mm thick with a 6.80 mm inscribed circle diameter and a 0.80 mm corner radius. It operates with a positive rake angle of 20 degrees and provides two cutting edges per insert. The KM chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation. Licensed HVAC techs do not install this product — it is installed and changed out by machinists and CNC operators in metal-cutting environments.
This insert is intended for milling cast iron workpieces in both light and moderate material removal applications. With a maximum depth of cut of 10.00 mm, it fits R390 and M-32 cutter series toolholders. The right-hand cutting orientation, parallelogram insert shape, and screw-type holding method make it appropriate for standard shoulder milling setups. The insert size code is 11T308, with ANSI and ISO designations of R390-11 T3 08M-KM 1020. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed for use with R390 and M-32 series milling cutter bodies that accept insert size 11T308. ANSI and ISO designation R390-11 T3 08M-KM 1020. Optimized for primary workpiece material code K (cast iron).
Insert changes should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out, energy-isolated state per applicable safety procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as insert seating damage can result. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping seat for chips or debris before seating the replacement insert. Confirm insert orientation matches the right-hand cutting direction before resuming operation.
