The SANDVIK COROMANT 5745616 is a single-sided, diamond-tipped milling insert engineered for high-performance cutting in non-ferrous metal applications. It carries the manufacturer grade CD10 and is supplied in the bright, uncoated condition. The insert features a parallelogram shape with a positive rake geometry and a corner-rounded cutting edge style. With an inscribed circle diameter of 0.3780 inches (9.60 mm), a thickness of 0.1875 inches (4.76 mm), and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches (0.80 mm), this insert is sized for precision face and shoulder milling work. It is held in the cutter body by a screw-clamping method and is designed for right-hand cutting orientation.
This insert is intended for use on non-ferrous metals, including aluminum, copper, and similar materials coded N or N05 in standard material classification systems. It fits the R390 cutter series and is identified by ANSI and ISO code R390-170408E-P6-NL CD10. Typical installation scenarios include face milling, shoulder milling, and profiling operations on CNC machining centers in industrial and production shop environments. The NL chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during light to moderate depth-of-cut passes in non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Designed for use with the Sandvik Coromant R390 cutter series. Insert size code 170408 corresponds to ANSI and ISO designation R390-170408E-P6-NL CD10. Verify cutter body pocket geometry and insert size code before ordering.
Installation is performed by machining technicians or toolroom personnel on CNC or manual milling equipment. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver to engage the clamping screw — do not use impact tools on insert screws. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw threads for wear or contamination before installing a new insert.
