The SANDVIK COROMANT 5742948 is a solid carbide square end mill from the CoroMill Plura series, engineered for precision milling in demanding machining environments. With a 1 mm mill diameter and a 1 mm length of cut, this stub-length tool is suited for fine-feature work where tight tolerances and tool rigidity are critical. A TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended wear life at elevated cutting speeds. The right-hand cutting, right-hand spiral flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Machinists and CNC programmers in aerospace, die-and-mold, and precision component manufacturing are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is designed for small-diameter slot milling, profiling, and contour operations where accuracy is paramount. The extended-reach geometry, with a 2.5 mm reach length, allows access to recessed features while maintaining rigidity through the 6 mm shank diameter. The stub flute length and solid carbide construction minimize deflection, making it appropriate for high-speed machining centers running tight tolerances on hardened or difficult-to-machine materials. It is a single-end, centercutting tool capable of plunge entry.
Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Plura series. Designed for use in standard collet chucks and hydraulic tool holders accepting a 6 mm shank diameter with h6 tolerance. Verify spindle and holder compatibility with machine tool specifications before installation.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in a safe state. Ensure the tool holder bore and collet are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as small-diameter end mills are sensitive to holder concentricity. Follow the cutting tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material and do not exceed the rated parameters for this tool series.
