The SANDVIK COROMANT 5742680 is a square, single-sided solid carbide milling insert designed for use in R210 series face and shoulder milling cutters. Coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, this insert carries a manufacturer grade of 1020 and a material grade of K05, making it well suited for cutting cast iron workpieces. The insert features a positive rake angle of 10 degrees, a KM chip breaker geometry, and four cutting edges per insert. With a corner radius of 1.40 mm (0.0551 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 1.00 mm (0.0472 inches), it delivers controlled chip formation and consistent tool life in demanding ferrous machining applications.
This insert is intended for use in industrial CNC milling operations, primarily in production environments machining cast iron components. The R210 series is commonly found on horizontal and vertical machining centers in automotive, general manufacturing, and heavy equipment sectors. The KM chip breaker geometry supports stable cutting at moderate feed rates across a range of part geometries. Insert holding is accomplished via screw clamping. The ANSI and ISO designation for this insert is R210-09 04 14E-KM 1020, and the insert size code is 090414.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT R210 series milling cutter bodies. Compatible cutter series is R210 as specified by the manufacturer. ANSI and ISO code R210-09 04 14E-KM 1020 should be used to confirm fit with the appropriate cutter body and pocket seat.
Insert seating and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Ensure the cutter pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips or debris before installing the insert. Tighten the clamping screw to the torque specification provided in the SANDVIK COROMANT cutter body documentation for the R210 series. Do not mix insert grades or geometries within a single cutter body loaded for balanced face milling.
