The SANDVIK COROMANT 5741613 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the R151.2 insert style with a 3.00 mm cutting width (0.1181 inches), it features a 4E chipbreaker geometry and a 5-degree right-hand lead angle. The insert carries grade 4225, which uses an MTCVD-applied TiCN/Al2O3/TiN coating for heat resistance and edge durability during interrupted or continuous cutoff passes. A 7-degree relief angle and a 0.30 mm corner radius round out the geometry. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators working in production turning environments.
This insert is suited for use in production turning and grooving applications where a right-hand, positive lead angle geometry is required. It fits within the T-Max Q-Cut system and is intended for use with compatible Sandvik Coromant R151.2-series toolholders and blade-style cutoff bodies. Typical applications include bar cutoff, face grooving, and external grooving on steel and other machinable materials in medium to high-volume shop environments. The 4E chipbreaker supports reliable chip control in a range of depth-of-cut and feed scenarios common to cutoff work.
Designed for use with Sandvik Coromant T-Max Q-Cut R151.2-series toolholders and blade bodies accepting insert seat size 30. Verify toolholder compatibility against the R151.2 insert style and seat size prior to ordering.
Installation is performed by machinists following standard insert indexing procedures for clamped grooving systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamp; do not overtighten. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper clamping force and repeatability.
