The SANDVIK COROMANT 5741510 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It belongs to the CoroCut 1-2 series and carries manufacturer grade 2135, a coated carbide grade featuring an MTCVD-applied TiCN/Al2O3/TiN multilayer coating for wear resistance and extended tool life. The insert has a 3.00 mm cutting width, a 5-degree right-hand lead angle, and a 7-degree relief angle. A 0.15 mm corner radius reduces edge stress at the start of cut. Holding method is clamp-style, and the insert seat size is G. This insert is specified and installed by machinists and CNC toolroom technicians.
The 5741510 is suited for radial cutoff and grooving on bar stock and turned components in both production and job-shop environments. The CoroCut 1-2 platform is commonly used on gang-tool, turret, and live-tool lathes processing steel, stainless, and cast materials. The 5-degree right-hand lead angle directs cutting forces toward the chuck, which helps reduce deflection on slender workpieces. Maximum depth of cut reaches 18.30 mm, making this insert viable for medium-diameter bar cutoff as well as shallow grooving profiles.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders accepting insert seat size G and insert style R123x2. The catalog number for this insert is R123G2-0300-0501-CF 2135.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and in an e-stop or lockout-tagout state before insert indexing or replacement. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw per the toolholder manufacturer specifications to ensure proper seating. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Verify lead angle orientation matches the programmed toolpath direction before resuming cutting.
