The SANDVIK COROMANT 5741472 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in the CoroCut 1-2 series, it features a 2.00 mm cutting width (0.0787 inch) and a right-hand lead angle of 15 degrees. The insert is coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, which promotes heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. A CS chipbreaker geometry aids chip control during cutoff operations. The clamp-style insert holding method provides secure seating in compatible toolholders. This insert is used by machinists and CNC operators working in metal-cutting production and job-shop environments.
The 5741472 is suited for cutoff and grooving applications in both production and repair-shop turning operations. It fits E-seat toolholders in the CoroCut 1-2 system and is appropriate for use on steel, stainless steel, and similar workpiece materials where controlled parting cuts are required. The 15-degree right-hand lead angle and 0.10 mm corner radius (0.0039 inch) make it a direct-fit choice for applications requiring precise width control and clean parting faces. The maximum depth of cut is 19.40 mm (0.7638 inch), supporting a wide range of bar and tube stock diameters.
Designed for use with CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders accepting an E insert seat. Manufacturer catalog reference number is R123E2-0200-1501-CS 1125. Verify toolholder seat size and clamping system before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench or clamping screw driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not over-torque the clamping screw, as this can damage the insert seat. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
