The SANDVIK COROMANT 5739990 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials. It features a 5/8 inch diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 1/32 inch (0.0313 inch) corner radius that protects the cutting edge and extends tool life in interrupted cuts. The TiAlN PVD multilayer coating resists heat and wear, making this tool well suited for both roughing and finishing operations. With 4 right-hand helical flutes at a 50-degree helix angle and centercutting capability, it handles full-slot and plunge entries. Licensed HVAC technicians, machinists, and tool-and-die professionals working in production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is built for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It fits into standard straight-cylindrical toolholders with a 5/8 inch shank diameter tolerance h6 and a mill diameter tolerance h9. The extra-long 4-1/2 inch overall length allows reach into deep pockets, cavities, and contoured features where shorter tools cannot access. It is appropriate for CNC machining centers in both production and job-shop settings where consistent edge integrity and surface finish are required across a range of workpiece materials.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch shank. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium per workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S. Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT RA216 series, material grade 1630.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the toolholder collet or set screw is torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specification before running. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips or wear before each setup.
