The SANDVIK COROMANT 5739458 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium. It carries a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1/64 inch (0.0150 inch) corner radius, and four flutes with a high-helix, right-hand spiral geometry. The TiAlN multilayer PVD coating resists heat and wear during both roughing and finishing passes. At 3-1/2 inches overall length with a 1-1/8 inch length of cut, this extra-long tool suits deep-pocket and side-wall milling operations. Machinists and CNC programmers installing this mill benefit from the centercutting capability, which allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
This end mill fits applications where a blend of roughing material removal and finishing surface quality is required in a single tool. Its primary workpiece materials include P-grade steels, M-grade stainless steels, K-grade cast irons, and S-grade superalloys and titanium. The extra-long configuration and straight-cylindrical shank make it a practical choice for aerospace, die-mold, and general machining operations where reach into deep features is necessary. It is sold individually and is designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT RA216 series, material grade 1620.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the toolholder manufacturer torque and runout specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before changing tooling. Confirm shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before committing to full-depth cuts. Do not exceed the recommended length of cut when side-milling to avoid deflection-related tool breakage.
