The SANDVIK COROMANT 5738724 is an indexable boring bar from the CoroCut 1-2 series, designed for internal boring and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The bar features a 1-1/4 inch (31.75 mm) shank diameter, a 40 mm (1.5748 inch) minimum bore diameter, and a 250 mm (9.8425 inch) overall length. With a 90-degree lead angle, neutral rake, and right-hand cutting direction, it is suited for straight-wall grooving and precision boring passes. The steel body uses a clamp-style insert holding method and accepts N123E2-0200-GM inserts. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in deep bore applications. Machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary installers of this toolholder.
This boring bar is intended for use in internal grooving and boring applications on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. It is classified under cutting tool application: Boring and Grooving, making it a multi-use toolholder for turning operations where access depth up to 5.0000 inches (127 mm) is required. The single-insert configuration keeps setup straightforward, and the CoroCut 1-2 series toolholder style (AG123..B) provides a known interface for shops already running compatible insert grades. No insert is included with this toolholder.
Accepts N123E2-0200-GM inserts (insert size code E, insert thickness 0.1693 inches). Compatible insert cartridge types include diamond and triangle configurations with a minimum bore diameter of 1.5748 inches. Part of the CoroCut 1-2 series, toolholder style AG123..B.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Before changing inserts or mounting the bar, confirm the machine spindle is locked and all axis motion is disabled per the machine tool builder lockout procedure. Torque the clamp screw to the value specified in the SANDVIK COROMANT toolholder documentation for this series — do not estimate clamp torque. Verify shank seating and runout with a dial indicator before running the first cut, particularly at extended reach depths.
