The SANDVIK COROMANT 5737633 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Cataloged as N151.2-A250-60-4G 1125, this insert features a 0.25-inch (6.35 mm) cutting width and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, providing thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The 1125 grade is engineered for steel and stainless steel applications where edge toughness and wear resistance are critical. The 4G chip breaker geometry promotes reliable chip evacuation during grooving passes. Neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both left- and right-hand toolholders configured for the T-Max Q-Cut system. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for external grooving and parting-off operations in light to medium-duty turning applications. The T-Max Q-Cut series is widely used in production turning for its secure clamping and consistent repeatability. The insert seat size 60 and ISO code N151.2-A250-60-4G 1125 identify the correct toolholder pocket for direct replacement or new setup. Multi-use capability allows the insert to be indexed or repositioned where toolholder design permits, extending value per insert. Typical applications include groove width control on shafts, hydraulic components, and other turned parts requiring dimensional accuracy at the groove face.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max Q-Cut toolholders accepting insert seat size 60 and ISO designation N151.2-A250-60-4G 1125. Verify toolholder pocket specification before installation.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full stop, locked-out condition before changing inserts. Use the recommended torx or clamping key specified for the T-Max Q-Cut toolholder to seat the insert firmly against the pocket locating surfaces. Do not exceed the clamping torque range marked on the toolholder body. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to prevent premature edge failure.
