The SANDVIK COROMANT 5737120 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the T-Max Q-Cut series, it carries manufacturer grade 1125 with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that supports high cutting speeds and extended tool life in demanding materials. The insert features a neutral hand orientation, a 0.11 inch (2.79 mm) cutting width, and a 4G chip breaker geometry. Cutting height is 0.2672 inches (6.78 mm). This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments where consistent groove geometry and chip control are critical.
The 5737120 suits grooving and cut-off applications on lathes handling steel, stainless steel, and other materials where TiAlN-coated carbide provides thermal and wear resistance. The 4G chip breaker promotes controlled chip formation during radial grooving and parting. With an insert seat size of 25 and overall length of 0.2248 inches, it indexes into compatible T-Max Q-Cut toolholders. The multi-use tool designation means the insert can be repositioned for additional cutting edges, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-volume turning operations.
Designed for use with T-Max Q-Cut series toolholders accepting insert seat size 25. ISO designation N151.2-A110-25-4G 1125 can be used to confirm toolholder compatibility. Refer to SANDVIK COROMANT toolholder documentation to verify seat and clamping requirements before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified for the T-Max Q-Cut toolholder to seat the insert securely without over-torquing the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
