The SANDVIK COROMANT 5737087 is a solid carbide grooving insert with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This insert carries ISO code N123U3-0080-RS 1125 and belongs to the CoroCut 3 series, a platform engineered for stable, accurate grooving in a wide range of workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation and positive rake geometry support consistent chip control and reduced cutting forces. The RS chip breaker is suited for general-purpose grooving applications. Cutting width measures 8 millimeters (0.315 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 1.80 millimeters (0.071 inches). Installation is performed by qualified machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert is used in external grooving, face grooving, and parting operations on turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. It fits toolholders and cartridges designed for the CoroCut 3 system using U-size insert seats. Typical applications include grooving grooves, undercuts, and snap-ring profiles on ferrous and non-ferrous components. The TiAlN PVD coating provides wear resistance suitable for dry or minimum-quantity-lubrication cutting conditions. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed for use in CoroCut 3 series toolholders and cartridges accepting U-size (insert seat size U) grooving inserts. Compatible tooling must match the N123U3 insert style and U seat designation. Verify toolholder specifications against ISO code N123U3-0080-RS 1125 before installation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and all motion axes at rest. Use the appropriate insert clamp key or torx wrench as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert correctly. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for damage or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications and do not substitute insert grades or chip breaker styles without verifying compatibility with the intended workpiece material and cutting parameters.
