The SANDVIK COROMANT 5737001 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the T-Max Q-Cut series, designed for precision external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries ISO code N151.2-A189-40-4G 235 and features a CVD-applied TiCN/TiN coating over a solid carbide substrate for wear resistance and extended tool life. Cutting width is 0.189 inches (4.80 mm), cutting height is 0.3191 inches (8.11 mm), and corner radius is 0.0224 inches (0.57 mm). The 4G chip breaker geometry and neutral rake angle suit a wide range of workpiece materials and grooving depths. Installed by machinists and CNC technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for grooving operations on steel, stainless, and similar machinable alloys in both production and repair turning applications. The T-Max Q-Cut series is a standard platform for cut-off and grooving on conventional and CNC turning equipment. The neutral hand orientation allows use on either side of the grooving tool body, adding flexibility when setting up multiple-pass groove profiles or plunge cuts. Minimum order quantity is 10 pieces; each package contains 1 insert.
Designed for use with T-Max Q-Cut series grooving toolholders accepting insert seat size 40 and the N151.2 insert style. Refer to the ISO code N151.2-A189-40-4G 235 when cross-referencing against compatible toolholder specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct torx or clamping key specified for the T-Max Q-Cut toolholder to seat the insert fully against the pocket walls. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to avoid improper seating and premature edge failure. Do not exceed the cutting parameters specified in the toolholder manufacturer documentation for the grade 235 substrate.
