The SANDVIK COROMANT 5736925 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for the CoroCut 1-2 system, a widely used platform for external and internal grooving and parting-off operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This insert carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which delivers strong oxidation resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures. It is sized at L2 with a cutting width of 8 mm and a maximum depth of cut of 28 mm, making it suited for moderate to deep grooving passes. The TM chip breaker geometry and positive rake promote controlled chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install and index these inserts as part of routine tool maintenance.
This insert is intended for grooving and parting-off operations where consistent groove width and chip control are priorities. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard straight-grooving applications. The PVD TiAlN coating and 1125 grade are typically selected for machining steel and stainless steel at moderate to higher cutting speeds. The ISO code for this insert is N123L2-0800-0008-TM 1125, which can be used to cross-reference toolholder compatibility and ordering within the CoroCut 1-2 system. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order of 10 pieces.
Designed for use in CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders and blades with an L insert seat size. The ISO designation N123L2-0800-0008-TM 1125 should be used to confirm toolholder compatibility. Refer to SANDVIK COROMANT toolholder documentation for confirmed mating components.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a safe, powered-down or E-stopped state. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw specified for the CoroCut 1-2 toolholder to seat the insert properly — do not overtighten by hand or with non-rated tools. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping mechanism for debris or wear before seating a new insert. Refer to the applicable toolholder manual for clamping torque values and seating procedure.
