The SANDVIK COROMANT 5736663 is a solid carbide grooving insert from the CoroCut 1-2 series, designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a Manufacturer Grade of 3115 with an MT-CVD applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating that improves wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted or continuous grooving cuts. The cutting width measures 0.2362 inches (6.00 mm), and the neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for both left- and right-hand setups. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this insert as a direct replacement or planned-maintenance consumable.
This insert fits toolholders and cartridges compatible with the CoroCut 1-2 system, a widely used modular grooving platform. It is appropriate for grooving steel, stainless steel, and other metallic workpiece materials in both high-volume production and precision one-off applications. The TF chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation and evacuation at moderate to high feed rates. Insert size designation is K, and the ISO code is N123K1-0600-0004-TF 3115. Each unit is sold individually; a minimum order quantity of 10 applies per order.
Designed for use with CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders and cartridges that accept insert seat size K. The ISO code N123K1-0600-0004-TF 3115 should be used for direct toolholder compatibility verification.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Before changing inserts, shut down spindle rotation and confirm the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert to prevent premature edge failure.
