The SANDVIK COROMANT 5736474 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroCut 1-2 series, this neutral-hand insert carries an N123x2 insert style designation and features a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating that supports high cutting speeds and extended tool life in steel, stainless, and cast iron applications. The cutting width is 2.39 mm (0.0940 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 19.00 mm (0.7480 inches) and a corner radius of 1.20 mm (0.0470 inches). The RO chip breaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting action and reliable chip control in medium to finishing operations.
This insert is suited for use in production turning environments where consistent groove geometry and tight tolerances are required. The CoroCut 1-2 platform is commonly used in both general-purpose and high-volume turning applications across aerospace, automotive, and general engineering shops. The insert fits E-seat toolholders compatible with the CoroCut 1-2 system. Qualified machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers. The ISO code for this insert is N123E2-0239-RO 1005, which can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder seats and insert pockets.
Designed for use with CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders that accept an E-seat insert size. ISO designation N123E2-0239-RO 1005 should be used to confirm toolholder and insert pocket compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct insert clamping screw and torque driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper registration and cutting geometry.
