The SANDVIK COROMANT 5736411 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. Part of the CoroCut 3 series, this insert carries grade 1125 with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that supports high cutting speeds and extended tool life in steel and stainless applications. The neutral hand orientation allows flexible mounting in standard CoroCut 3 toolholders. Cutting width is 1.60 mm (0.0630 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 3.20 mm (0.1260 inches), making it well suited for narrow groove work requiring tight dimensional control. Machinists and CNC programmers specify this insert for applications where consistent groove geometry and edge integrity are critical.
This insert is used in precision turning operations across general machining, automotive, aerospace, and fluid power component production. It is appropriate for both light-production and high-volume CNC turning environments where carbide tooling with a hard, wear-resistant coating is required to maintain groove width tolerances. The GS chip breaker geometry promotes effective chip control in narrow grooving passes. The insert is suited for use on conventional and Swiss-style lathes equipped with CoroCut 3 compatible tooling systems. Installation and tool changes are performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians following standard insert indexing procedures.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 3 series toolholders accepting T-seat inserts. ISO code N123T3-0160-0000-GS 1125 identifies the exact toolholder and seat compatibility within the CoroCut 3 system.
Insert changes must be performed with the machine in a full stop condition with spindle power locked out per standard LOTO procedures. Use the correct torx or clamping key specified for the CoroCut 3 toolholder to secure the insert; do not overtighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert seat for chips or contamination before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and dimensional repeatability. Consult the toolholder documentation for recommended starting cutting parameters before beginning production cuts.
