The SANDVIK COROMANT 5736297 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It belongs to the CoroCut 1-2 series and carries ISO code N123J2-0500-0004-TM 2135. The insert features a multilayer MT-CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous or interrupted cuts. With a 5 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 23.4 mm, this insert handles moderate to deep groove profiles. The neutral hand orientation and positive rake geometry support efficient chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. It is intended for use by machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for grooving applications in both high-volume production and precision job-shop turning. The CoroCut 1-2 platform is a common choice for external grooving, face grooving, and parting-off operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The manufacturer grade 2135 with TM chip breaker geometry is selected for applications requiring controlled chip formation and stable tool life. Each package contains one insert; the minimum order quantity is 10 units.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders and blade bodies that accept insert seat size J, insert size J2. Confirm holder compatibility using ISO code N123J2-0500-0004-TM 2135 when sourcing matched tooling.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Verify the insert is fully seated in the pocket and that the clamping screw is tightened to the toolholder specification before resuming cutting operations. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris that could affect insert orientation and dimensional repeatability.
