The SANDVIK COROMANT 5736293 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to ISO code N123J2-0500-0004-TM 1125, it features a 5 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 23.4 mm, making it well suited for moderate to deep groove profiles. The TiAlN coating is applied via a PVD process, delivering strong thermal resistance and wear life at elevated cutting speeds. The neutral hand orientation and positive rake geometry support chip control across a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production and job-shop environments are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert belongs to the CoroCut 1-2 series and fits J-seat toolholders sized for J2 inserts. It is appropriate for grooving, parting, and groove-turning applications on both ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a 5 mm wide groove profile is required. The TM chip breaker geometry assists in chip evacuation during interrupted or continuous grooving passes. The insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it suitable for production replenishment purchasing as well as tool-crib stocking programs.
Designed for use with CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders that accept a J-seat, J2 insert size. Refer to the ISO code N123J2-0500-0004-TM 1125 when cross-referencing holder compatibility in toolholder selection guides.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Never use a damaged or improperly seated insert, as this can cause premature failure or workpiece damage.
