The SANDVIK COROMANT 5736204 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for the CoroCut 1-2 series of parting and grooving toolholders. It carries a TiCN plus Al2O3 multi-layer MT-CVD coating applied in grade 3115, which improves wear resistance and extends tool life in steel and stainless steel applications. The insert has a neutral hand orientation, a 4.00 mm cutting width, and a 0.30 mm corner radius. With a maximum depth of cut of 23.00 mm, it handles a broad range of grooving operations without a tool change. Machinists and CNC programmers working in production turning and screw machine environments will find this insert a direct fit for CoroCut 1-2 compatible bodies.
This insert is suited for external and face grooving on CNC lathes and turning centers in both high-volume production and job shop environments. The GM chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across a range of feed rates and materials. The neutral rake angle of 7 degrees and size H insert seat make it interchangeable within the CoroCut 1-2 toolholder system. It is typically installed by machinists and CNC operators performing grooving, parting, or profiling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders accepting size H insert seats with a 4.00 mm cutting width. ISO code N123H2-0400-0003-GM 3115 identifies the exact seat and geometry requirements.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a stopped, de-energized state and all axis motion locked out. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified for the CoroCut 1-2 clamping screw and tighten to the toolholder manufacturer's seating recommendation without over-torquing. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Confirm secure clamping before resuming any cutting operations.
