The SANDVIK COROMANT 5736009 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precise external and internal grooving operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. Manufactured to ISO code N123G2-0300-0002-GF 1105, it carries a TiAlN2 PVD coating that provides heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The insert features a 3.00 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 19.2 mm, and a neutral hand orientation, making it well-suited for straight-plunge grooving and profiling applications. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in precision metalworking environments.
This insert belongs to the CoroCut 1-2 series, a platform engineered for stable, close-tolerance grooving on a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The GF chip breaker geometry and 7-degree rake angle promote controlled chip evacuation, which is critical when working in tight grooves or on parts with strict surface finish requirements. The insert is rated for a maximum depth of cut range of 10.00 mm to 20.00 mm and carries a 0.20 mm corner radius, supporting fine-finish grooving profiles in both production and job-shop settings.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement insert for SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series grooving toolholders accepting size G insert seats. ISO catalog reference N123G2-0300-0002-GF 1105 may be used to confirm toolholder compatibility.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be stopped and all motion axes must be at rest before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or insert-clamping key specified for the CoroCut 1-2 toolholder; do not use substitute tools that may damage the clamping screw or seat. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatable tool height.
