The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735974 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 4 mm cutting width (0.1575 inches) and belongs to the CoroCut 1-2 series, which uses a clamp-style insert holding method for secure, repeatable positioning. The insert carries a 1105 manufacturer grade with a TiAlN PVD coating, providing strong wear resistance and thermal stability during high-speed cutoff work. With a neutral lead angle and a 0.20 mm corner radius, it delivers consistent chip control across a range of materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of routine tooling maintenance or when optimizing a cutoff application.
This insert is suited for parting and grooving on both ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in production turning environments. The CM chipbreaker geometry promotes reliable chip evacuation, reducing the risk of chip packing in deep cutoff grooves. With a maximum depth of cut of 24.10 mm (0.9488 inches) and an overall length of 24.67 mm (0.9713 inches), it handles a wide range of workpiece diameters. Typical applications include high-volume production shops, job shops, and maintenance machining where consistent groove geometry and tool life are priorities. This insert is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders that accept the H insert seat size. The catalog number for this insert is N123H2-0400-0002-CM 1105. Consult the toolholder documentation to confirm insert seat size and clamping compatibility before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always index or replace inserts with the machine in a safe, de-energized state and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate torx or clamp-screw driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamp screw, as this can crack the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
