The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735901 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to Grade 2135 with a multi-layer MT-CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation suits standard radial grooving setups. It carries a cutting width of 0.125 inches (3.17 mm) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.709 inches (18 mm), making it suitable for moderate-depth groove profiles. Machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert as part of the CoroCut 1-2 tooling system.
This insert is intended for use in the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series toolholding system, which is widely applied in production turning environments for grooving and parting on both light and medium-duty work. The GM chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in grooving applications. The ISO code designation is N123G2-0318-0003-GM 2135. It is suited for shop environments where consistent groove width and depth tolerances are required across high-volume runs.
Designed for use with the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series toolholding system. Insert seat size G. ISO code: N123G2-0318-0003-GM 2135. Verify holder compatibility using the CoroCut 1-2 system selector before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert firmly in the CoroCut 1-2 holder pocket and confirm the clamping screw is torqued according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert seat for chips or contamination before seating to avoid insert rocking or premature breakage. Replace the insert at first sign of chipping, built-up edge, or dimensional drift in groove width.
