The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735852 is a solid carbide grooving insert from the CoroCut MB series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a TiAlN/TiN coating applied via PVD process, providing wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert features a 3.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 6.5 mm, making it well suited for small-diameter and miniature part grooving. The right-hand orientation and neutral rake geometry deliver controlled chip flow in tight-clearance applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct replacement in compatible CoroCut MB toolholders.
This insert is intended for grooving operations on small components typically found in medical, watchmaking, electronics, and precision aerospace turning work. The MB-09 insert size fits CoroCut MB series toolholders designed for insert seat size 9. The 6.5 mm maximum depth of cut falls within the 5.00 mm to 10.00 mm depth-of-cut range for the MB series, giving the operator flexibility across a range of groove geometries. It is suited for use on both conventional CNC turning centers and Swiss-type lathes where access to small-diameter features is required.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut MB series toolholders accepting insert seat size 9. The ISO designation MB-09G300-00-17R 1025 and manufacturer catalog number MB-09G300-00-17R 1025 should be used to confirm holder compatibility before installation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully stopped and in a safe, locked-out state. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert clamp. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping mechanism for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Do not exceed the manufacturer-rated depth of cut or feed rate for this insert grade and geometry.
