The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735790 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Cataloged under the CoroCut 1-2 series with ISO code N123E2-0200-0002-GM 3115, this insert features a neutral hand orientation and a GM chip breaker geometry. It carries a multi-layer MT-CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 for improved wear resistance and heat management at the cutting edge. The insert delivers a 2 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 18.8 mm, making it well suited for external grooving and parting on small to medium diameter workpieces. It is installed by machinists and CNC tooling specialists in production and job-shop turning environments.
This insert is engineered for use in the CoroCut 1-2 toolholder system, which is widely used in both roughing and finishing grooving applications. The neutral rake angle of 7 degrees and the GM chip breaker geometry are optimized for controlled chip formation across a range of workpiece materials. The insert size designation is E with an insert seat size of E, and it is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order cycle. It is applicable in high-volume production turning as well as precision job work where consistent groove width and depth are critical.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders accepting size E insert seats. ISO code N123E2-0200-0002-GM 3115 identifies the exact holder and seat pairing required for correct fitment.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and insert key specified for the CoroCut 1-2 toolholder to avoid damaging the insert seat or clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping mechanism for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
