The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735716 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the CoroCut MB series, designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a TiAlN/TiN PVD coating applied over a grade 1025 carbide substrate, delivering a combination of heat resistance and edge toughness suited to demanding grooving applications. The insert carries a neutral rake angle of 2 degrees and a 90-degree lead angle. Cutting width is 0.93 mm (0.0366 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 1.5 mm (0.0591 inches). This insert is typically fitted and changed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for small-diameter grooving, parting, and undercutting tasks where precise groove geometry and tight tolerances are required. The MB09 insert size and right-hand orientation make it suitable for internal and external grooving in confined bores and on small-diameter workpieces. Applications span general metalworking, aerospace component turning, medical part machining, and any production environment requiring consistent, repeatable groove profiles at narrow widths. The CoroCut MB series is engineered for stability and coolant delivery at small insert sizes.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut MB series toolholders and cartridges accepting MB-09 insert seat size 9 inserts. ISO code MB-09G090-00-14R 1025 should be used to verify toolholder compatibility before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full lockout/tagout state before any insert change. Ensure the insert seat is clean and free of debris before seating the insert to prevent seating errors that can damage the pocket or affect groove geometry. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications as provided in the CoroCut MB toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for wear at each insert change.
