The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735708 is a solid carbide grooving insert from the CoroCut MB series, designed for precision grooving and circlip groove machining on CNC lathes and turning centers. This left-hand insert features a 1.7 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 4.0 mm, making it well suited for small-bore internal grooving operations. The PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating provides thermal resistance and edge wear protection during continuous grooving cycles. The MB..G (CIRCLIP) geometry and 2-degree rake angle are engineered for controlled chip formation in tight-tolerance groove profiles. Machining professionals and CNC toolroom technicians working with precision turned components specify this insert for reliable, repeatable groove geometry.
This insert is used in small-bore internal grooving applications on CNC turning equipment, including circlip groove production and precision profile grooving on shafts, bores, and housings. The CoroCut MB series targets applications where cutting width precision and groove wall integrity are critical. It is appropriate for both production-volume turning operations and close-tolerance toolroom work in aerospace, automotive, and general machined-components environments where circlip seat accuracy is required.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut MB series toolholders accepting MB..G style inserts. ISO Code MB-09G170-00-14L 1025. Verify toolholder designation and bore size requirements before installation to confirm correct insert-to-holder fit.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Before changing inserts, power down the spindle and engage machine lockout/tagout procedures per shop safety protocols. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the toolholder pocket and secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure.
