The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735707 is a solid carbide grooving insert from the CoroCut MB series, designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating for improved wear resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. It carries a 1.5 mm cutting width (0.0591 inch) and a maximum depth of cut of 6.5 mm (0.2559 inch), making it suited for narrow, deep grooving applications. The right-hand orientation and 90-degree lead angle define its geometry for standard radial grooving. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments install this insert as a direct replacement in compatible CoroCut MB toolholders.
This insert is sized at MB09 with a manufacturer grade of 1025, placing it within the CoroCut MB platform for small-part grooving and parting on Swiss-type and conventional CNC turning equipment. It is suited for machining a wide range of workpiece materials where a PVD-coated solid carbide insert is the appropriate grade selection. The maximum depth of cut range falls between 5.0 mm and 10.0 mm, and the 2-degree rake angle supports chip control in fine finishing and semi-finishing grooving passes. This is a single-use, non-multi-use insert configuration.
Designed for use with CoroCut MB series toolholders accepting MB09 insert size. Verify toolholder seat and clamping compatibility before installation. ISO code MB09G1500017R1025 can be used for direct cross-reference.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified for the CoroCut MB toolholder to seat and secure the insert without overtightening. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
