The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735642 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a multi-layer MT-CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal protection during continuous or interrupted cuts. The insert features a 2.00 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 19.20 mm, and a 1.00 mm corner radius. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for both left-hand and right-hand grooving setups. Machining professionals and CNC operators install this insert in compatible CoroCut 1-2 toolholders for precision grooving in steel, stainless steel, and similar workpiece materials.
This insert is part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series, a system developed for grooving, parting, and turning operations in both light and medium-duty applications. It is used in production turning environments, including automotive component machining and general precision part manufacturing. The RO chip breaker geometry supports positive rake cutting action and is suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes. The insert seat size is E and the insert size designation is E2, fitting the corresponding CoroCut 1-2 toolholder seats for that size range.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders accepting insert seat size E and insert size E2. ISO code reference: N123E2-0200-RO S05F. Verify toolholder seat size and insert pocket dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by a CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or clamp-style key specified for the toolholder to seat the insert firmly without overtightening. Inspect the insert seat and clamping mechanism for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature failure.
