The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735474 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for left-hand external thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroCut XS series, this insert uses a 60-degree V-thread profile and covers a thread pitch range of 24 to 80 TPI (0.20 to 1.00 mm pitch), making it a versatile single-insert solution for fine to medium threading work. The PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN dual-layer coating promotes wear resistance and edge stability at elevated cutting temperatures. The insert carries manufacturer grade 1025 and is intended for machining operations where left-hand thread forms are required. CNC machinists and tooling technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is suited to external threading applications on lathes and multi-axis turning centers in precision machining environments, including job shops, aerospace component work, and general manufacturing. The MATL360-A insert style mounts in compatible CoroCut XS toolholders designed for the MAT insert style and size code 3. It produces a 60-degree V-thread form on left-hand external threads across the full 24 to 80 TPI range without requiring an insert change for intermediate pitches within that range.
Designed for use in CoroCut XS series toolholders accepting the MAT insert style, size code 3, with a 0.189-inch (4.80 mm) hole diameter for the insert mounting screw.
Installation of threading inserts must be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle stopped and all energy sources locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and torque the clamping screw using the toolholder manufacturer's specified insert key. Inspect the cutting edge under magnification before use and do not run a visibly chipped or worn insert. Verify toolholder and insert compatibility before mounting to ensure correct seating and thread-form accuracy.
