The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735416 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. Part of the CoroCut XS series, this right-hand insert carries a MAG chip breaker geometry and a manufacturer grade of 1025 with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating. The cutting width measures 1.75 mm (0.0689 inches) and the maximum depth of cut reaches 3.70 mm (0.1457 inches). The neutral rake angle of 6 degrees and the 0.05 mm corner radius make it well-suited for small-diameter groove work requiring tight dimensional control. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments install this insert as a direct replacement or standard tooling component.
This insert is intended for small-bore and small-diameter grooving applications where minimal cutting width and controlled chip evacuation are critical. The CoroCut XS series is engineered for grooving on workpieces with limited clearance, making this insert a practical choice for Swiss-type, sub-spindle, and conventional turning operations where insert size 3 toolholders are in use. The multi-use designation means the insert supports both grooving and parting passes within its rated depth-of-cut range of 3.00 mm to 4.00 mm.
Designed for use with CoroCut XS series insert seat size 3 toolholders. ISO code MAGR 3 175 1025 identifies the exact seat and geometry pairing required. Consult the toolholder documentation to confirm proper seating before use.
This insert is installed and replaced by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified for the CoroCut XS toolholder to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seat for debris or damage before installing a new insert to ensure proper contact and dimensional accuracy.
