The SANDVIK COROMANT 5734518 is a DPMT-style turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroTurn 111 series, this solid carbide insert carries a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which builds wear resistance and thermal protection during continuous and light interrupted cuts. The 55-degree diamond shape delivers a sharp, low-cutting-force geometry suited to profiling and finishing passes. With a manufacturer grade of 2025 and a neutral hand orientation, it fits standard screw-clamping toolholders used in production and job shop environments. Installation and tool changes are handled by machinists and CNC operators on the shop floor.
This insert is optimized for machining stainless steel, classified under ISO material group M. The MM chip breaker geometry controls chip formation on ductile, work-hardening materials where chip management is critical to surface finish and tool life. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 1/32-inch corner radius make it well suited to moderate depth-of-cut finishing and semi-finishing applications. It is appropriate for both high-volume production turning and close-tolerance part runs where consistent edge geometry is required across each insert in the pack.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 111 series screw-clamp toolholders accepting DPMT-style inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. ISO code DPMT 11 T3 08-MM 2025. Verify toolholder seat dimensions before installation. No additional compatible model numbers were specified in the product data.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle at a full stop and all axes locked per shop lockout-tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert or damage the seat. Inspect the pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Confirm insert orientation and hand before resuming cutting operations.
