The SANDVIK COROMANT 5734300 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the L151.2 insert style with a 3.00 mm (0.1181 inch) cutting width, this insert features a 5E chipbreaker geometry and a CVD-applied TiCN/TiN coating for wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. It carries manufacturer grade 235 and belongs to the T-Max Q-Cut series, a platform widely used in production turning environments. The insert mounts via a clamp-style holding method and is suited for machinists and toolroom professionals running high-volume cutoff applications in steel and similar workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for use in T-Max Q-Cut parting and grooving toolholders that accept the L151.2 insert style with an insert seat size of 30. Typical applications include cutoff operations on bar stock and tubular workpieces in both job shop and production turning environments. The left-hand lead angle orientation and 0-degree lead angle make this insert appropriate for straight-plunge parting cuts. The 0.20 mm (0.0079 inch) corner radius provides a defined edge geometry suited to finishing and semi-finishing cutoff passes.
Designed for use in T-Max Q-Cut series toolholders accepting the L151.2 insert style with insert seat size 30. Verify toolholder compatibility against the L151.2-300 05-5E 235 catalog designation before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and in a locked-out state per applicable safety procedures. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before engaging the clamp to ensure proper contact and avoid insert rocking. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris prior to mounting. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for clamping screws and do not exceed the recommended depth-of-cut for the 3.00 mm cutting width.
