The SANDVIK COROMANT 5734176 is a DNMG431-MF turning insert from the T-Max P series, designed for precision turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN and AlCr2O3 via a PVD process, this insert delivers heat and wear resistance at the cutting edge. The neutral hand orientation and MF chip breaker geometry suit finishing and semi-finishing passes. With four cutting edges per insert and a 55-degree diamond shape, it offers cost efficiency and consistent performance across production runs. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities rely on this insert for demanding turning applications.
This insert is optimized for primary use on stainless steel workpieces, with secondary application on superalloys and titanium. These are among the most demanding materials in aerospace, medical device, and oil-and-gas component machining. The MF chip breaker is engineered for controlled chip formation at lower cutting depths and feed rates typical of finishing work. The T-Max P series is a well-established line for external and internal turning across a wide range of machine platforms.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for toolholders accepting DNMG431 style inserts with clamp or pin holding, as specified in the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series. ISO designation DNMG 15 04 04-MF 1115 applies for cross-referencing compatible toolholder systems.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Seat the insert fully against the pocket surfaces before engaging the clamping mechanism, and inspect the cutting edge for chips or damage before each use. Refer to the machine manufacturer and SANDVIK COROMANT tooling documentation for recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material. Follow applicable shop safety protocols when handling carbide inserts, as edges are extremely sharp.
