The SANDVIK COROMANT 5733382 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It belongs to the CoroCut XS series and features a 1.00 mm cutting width, a TiAlN/TiN PVD coating for heat and wear resistance, and a 0-degree lead angle with a right-hand orientation. The MACR chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip formation in tight-clearance cutoff applications. This insert is intended for use by machining professionals and toolroom technicians working with small-diameter bar stock and Swiss-style or sub-spindle turning setups.
This insert is suited for small-part turning applications where minimal material loss and accurate parting depths are required. With a maximum depth of cut of 6.30 mm and an overall length of 12.02 mm, it fits compact toolholders in the CoroCut XS system. Typical applications include cutoff work on small-diameter components in precision machining, medical, and electronics manufacturing environments. It uses a clamp-style insert holding method and seats in size 3 insert seats.
Designed for use with CoroCut XS series toolholders that accept size 3 insert seats and are configured for clamp-style retention.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat and clamping surfaces should be cleaned before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and alignment. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seat for wear or damage before each insert change.
