The SANDVIK COROMANT 5733380 is a solid carbide cutoff insert in the CoroCut XS series, designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries manufacturer grade 1025 with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating for wear resistance and extended tool life in demanding cut-off applications. It features a 0.028-inch (0.70 mm) cutting width, a 15-degree right-hand lead angle, and a 6-degree relief angle. The MACR chipbreaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation in tight-clearance grooving work. Installed by machinists and tooling technicians, this insert is held in place by a clamp-style clamping method and is suited for high-precision, small-diameter parting tasks.
This insert is intended for small-part turning and cutoff operations where minimal material kerf and tight tolerances are required. The CoroCut XS series is designed for grooving and parting of small components, making this insert a fit for watchmaking, medical device, electronics, and other precision-machining environments. The right-hand orientation and 15-degree lead angle make it appropriate for standard right-hand turning setups. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.169 inches (4.30 mm), supporting a range of small-diameter workpieces.
Designed for use with CoroCut XS series toolholders and blade systems that accept MACR3 insert seat size 3 cutoff inserts with clamp-style holding. Confirm toolholder designation and seat size before ordering.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque tool and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-tighten or substitute clamping components. Verify insert orientation and lead-angle direction match the toolholder configuration before resuming cuts.
