The SANDVIK COROMANT 5733131 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the DNMX332-WF geometry in grade 1115, this insert features a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, giving it strong resistance to heat and wear during demanding cuts. The 55-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code D) provides a sharp, stable cutting geometry. With a wiper edge built into the WF chip breaker, it is well suited for achieving improved surface finish at standard feed rates. Licensed machinists and CNC turning professionals install this insert as part of the Sandvik Coromant T-Max P tooling system.
This insert is primarily intended for turning stainless steel (ISO material code M), covering applications where edge sharpness, chip control, and coating durability are critical. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across a range of toolholder setups. The WF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light to medium turning passes. It fits toolholders that accept DNMX-style inserts with a clamp and pin holding method, suitable for both external and profiling operations in production turning environments.
Designed for use in the Sandvik Coromant T-Max P tooling system. Compatible with toolholders accepting DNMX-style inserts with clamp and pin holding, neutral hand orientation, and a 0.15-inch hole diameter. ISO code DNMX110408WF1115.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert seat and shim for debris or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and edge positioning.
