The SANDVIK COROMANT 5732445 is a DPMT-style solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 111 series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This insert carries a 1125 manufacturer grade and features a dual-layer PVD coating of TiAlN and AlCr2O3, which delivers high heat resistance and wear protection during interrupted or continuous cuts. The 55-degree diamond insert shape (Insert Shape Code D) provides a sharp, defined nose geometry suited to finish and semi-finish turning. With 2 cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it integrates directly into screw-clamped toolholders using the standard DPMT interface.
This insert is engineered for turning steel as its primary workpiece material, and is also rated for use on stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as secondary materials. It is suited to applications requiring controlled chip formation, as indicated by the MM chip breaker designation. Typical installation scenarios include production-floor finish turning and profiling operations on horizontal or vertical turning centers where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. The screw-clamping hold method (Clearance Code P, Tolerance Code M) ensures positive seating and repeatable indexing.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 111 series screw-clamp toolholders accepting DPMT-style inserts with an ISO code of DPMT 07 02 08-MM 1125. Consult SANDVIK COROMANT toolholder documentation to confirm seat and clamp compatibility before installation.
Indexing and insert changes should be performed only after the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the clamp screw torque specified in the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 111 toolholder documentation — do not estimate or substitute screw torque from this listing. Inspect the insert seat and clamp contact surfaces for chips or debris before seating the insert. Proper seating is critical to achieving the tolerance and surface finish this insert grade is designed to produce.
