The SANDVIK COROMANT 5732381 is a solid carbide indexable boring bar designed for internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroTurn 111 series, it accepts CPMT 06 02 04 inserts secured by a screw clamp and features a positive rake geometry with a 6-degree rake angle and a -5-degree lead angle. The right-hand holder has a 1/2-inch shank diameter and an 8-inch overall length, with a minimum bore diameter of 0.5984 inches. Coolant-through capability helps control heat and chip evacuation during deep-bore or tight-tolerance work. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this bar in standard round-shank tool holders.
The 5732381 is suited for precision internal turning in both roughing and finishing passes where consistent insert indexing and rigidity are critical. The solid carbide construction provides higher stiffness and vibration resistance compared to steel-shank alternatives, making it well-matched for small-diameter bores and long-reach applications. It supports multi-use turning operations and is appropriate for production environments machining steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials. Typical applications include bore sizing, facing, and contour turning on parts where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are closely controlled.
Designed for use with CPMT 06 02 04 series inserts in the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 111 tooling system. Fits standard 1/2-inch round-shank boring bar pockets on CNC turning centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable safety procedures. Secure the shank fully within the tool holder to the recommended clamp-depth marked on the bar. Verify insert seating and screw torque per the insert manufacturer specification before taking any cut. Confirm coolant-through passages are clear and connected before resuming production.
