The SANDVIK COROMANT 5732324 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 PVD coating applied by physical vapor deposition, delivering strong heat and wear resistance at the cutting edge. The insert carries a 3 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 8.99 mm, and a corner radius of 1.50 mm. Left-hand orientation and a positive rake geometry combine to reduce cutting forces and improve chip evacuation. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments install this insert as part of the CoroCut 1-2 tooling system.
This insert is suited for grooving operations on workpieces in both light and medium-duty turning applications. The RS chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation across a maximum depth of cut range of 5.00 mm to 10.00 mm. It is compatible with CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders that accept an L seat size and an X1 insert size designation. The ISO code for this insert is LG123L1-0300-0015-RS1115, which can be used to cross-reference toolholder compatibility and ordering documentation. Typical applications include groove turning on steel, stainless, and other machinable alloys where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders accepting L seat size and X1 insert size. ISO code LG123L1-0300-0015-RS1115 should be referenced when verifying toolholder and insert pocket compatibility.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician during machine setup. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torx or insert-clamping key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert — do not overtighten or substitute non-rated hardware. Verify insert seating, orientation, and clearance before resuming machine operation.
