The SANDVIK COROMANT 5731819 is a DNMG432-QM 2025 series turning insert engineered for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. This solid carbide insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, providing thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cutting passes. The insert carries a 55-degree diamond shape (ISO code D), a neutral hand orientation, and a 0.0313-inch corner radius. With 4 usable cutting edges and a 0.5789-inch length, it delivers consistent performance on demanding workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling production turning work are the primary installers.
This insert is designed primarily for turning stainless steel workpieces, classified under ISO workpiece material code M. It belongs to the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series, which is optimized for external and internal turning where chip control and edge stability are critical. The QM chip breaker geometry is suited for medium machining conditions where controlled chip formation improves surface finish and reduces tool pressure. Typical applications include production turning on CNC lathes in job shops, aerospace component machining, and general industrial manufacturing environments requiring reliable performance on austenitic and duplex stainless grades.
Designed for use with DNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp and pin insert holding methods. Compatible with T-Max P series turning toolholders. Verify toolholder pocket tolerance and seat configuration before indexing.
This insert is installed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use a torque wrench calibrated to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamp screw value — do not estimate torque by feel. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping components for wear or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and edge position.
