The SANDVIK COROMANT 5731558 is a DNMG433-MR 2035 series indexable turning insert designed for precision external turning operations in CNC lathe applications. This neutral-hand insert is manufactured from solid carbide and features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual-layer coating that provides thermal stability and wear resistance when cutting stainless steel and other M-grade workpiece materials. The 55-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code D) delivers sharp entry angles suited to profiling and finishing passes. With four usable cutting edges and a chip breaker designation of MR, this insert offers consistent chip control across a range of feed rates and depths of cut.
This insert is engineered for stainless steel machining as its primary application, classified under ISO workpiece material code M. It fits into DNMG-style toolholders used on manual and CNC lathes in both job shop and production environments. The T-Max P series designation indicates compatibility with the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P clamping and pin-lock toolholder system. Typical applications include turning, profiling, and light-to-medium finishing of austenitic and duplex stainless steel components. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in metalworking shops are the primary users of this insert.
Designed as an OEM-grade replacement insert for DNMG-style toolholders in the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P system. ISO designation is DNMG 15 04 12-MR 2035. Suitable for toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch inscribed circle DNMG insert with a clamp and pin holding method.
Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and in a locked-out, tagged-out state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and SANDVIK COROMANT recommended clamping hardware for T-Max P toolholders; do not substitute clamps or pins from other systems. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or contamination before indexing to a fresh cutting edge. Dispose of worn inserts according to local regulations for carbide tooling waste.
