The SANDVIK COROMANT 5731053 is a right-hand indexable turning toolholder in the DDJNR style, designed for use with DNMG 432 inserts secured by a wedge clamping method. The toolholder features a 3/4 inch square shank (0.75 inches wide by 0.75 inches tall) and an overall length of 4.5 inches, making it a compact, rigid platform for facing operations on CNC and manual lathes. The wedge clamping system locks the insert firmly under cutting loads, supporting consistent repeatability at tool changes. Built from steel, this toolholder is suited for production turning environments where insert indexing speed and holder durability matter.
This toolholder is applied in facing operations on turning centers and engine lathes. The right-hand orientation positions the cutting edge for conventional front-facing passes. With a negative rake angle of -6 degrees and a head length of 1.45 inches, it handles interrupted and continuous cuts on a range of workpiece materials when paired with the correct DNMG 432 insert grade. It is a multi-use tool, meaning the same body accommodates different insert grades depending on the material being machined. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tool crib technicians are the primary installers and users of this holder.
Designed for use with DNMG 432 series inserts. Insert inscribed circle is 0.5 inches. Verify insert grade selection against workpiece material per the manufacturer cutting data guidelines.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be stopped and all motion arrested before changing or indexing inserts or repositioning the toolholder in the turret. Use appropriate insert handling tools — never seat or remove inserts with bare hands. Confirm shank clearance and turret pocket dimensions match the 3/4 inch shank before mounting.
