The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730987 is a DCMT-style turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond insert shape with a neutral hand orientation, making it suited for profiling and finishing cuts. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN coating under the 1525 grade, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability. The UM chip breaker geometry controls chip flow across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production machining environments are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is part of the CoroTurn 107 series and is intended for turning steel as its primary workpiece material, with stainless steel and cast iron as secondary workpiece materials. It is suited for both light finishing and moderate roughing passes in these material categories. The screw-on holding method and DCMT geometry are compatible with toolholders designed to the DCMT insert style and clearance code C with tolerance code M. This insert is commonly used in job shops and production facilities running steel and stainless components.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CoroTurn 107 series DCMT-style toolholders. Compatible with toolholders accepting DCMT inserts with clearance code C, tolerance code M, and a screw-on holding method. ISO code reference: DCMT 11 T3 04-UM 1525.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert. Verify correct insert orientation and seating before resuming cutting operations.
