The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730928 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the ISO designation DCMX 07 02 08-WF 1125, this insert features a 55-degree parallelogram shape (Shape Code D) with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The 1125 grade substrate is coated via PVD process with TiAlN and AlCr2O3 layers, providing thermal resistance and edge wear protection during continuous and light interrupted cuts. The neutral hand orientation and screw-holding method suit a wide range of CoroTurn 107 toolholders used in production and job-shop turning environments.
This insert is intended for turning applications on stainless steel and superalloy workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes M and S. The WF chip breaker geometry is suited for finishing passes and light stock removal where controlled chip formation and close tolerances are priorities. A maximum depth of cut of 0.2737 inches supports shallow finishing cuts. The insert is appropriate for both residential-scale job shops and high-volume production floors where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers and users of this insert.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting DCMX-style inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle. Verify toolholder pocket dimensions and clamping screw compatibility before installation. ISO code DCMX 07 02 08-WF 1125 and catalog number DCMX070208WF1125 can be used to confirm cross-reference fitment.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a safe, powered-down or door-locked state per applicable machine tool safety protocols. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips, wear, or damage before seating the new insert. Index or replace the insert at first sign of edge wear to maintain dimensional tolerances and prevent workpiece damage.
