The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730823 is a DCMT-style diamond turning insert in grade 1125, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a neutral hand orientation. The insert carries a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 PVD coating applied via physical vapor deposition, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during moderate to high-speed cutting. The UM chip breaker geometry is optimized for general-purpose turning and light finishing. This insert is part of the CoroTurn 107 series and is held in place by a screw-clamp method. It is sized at an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches with a corner radius of 0.0313 inches.
This insert is intended for turning operations primarily on steel, and is also rated for use on stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It fits the CoroTurn 107 toolholder system and is suited for both production shop environments and job-shop turning applications. The UM chip breaker makes it a practical choice for general finishing and light roughing passes where controlled chip evacuation is required. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators during scheduled insert indexing or replacement.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting DCMT-style inserts. ISO code DCMT 07 02 08-UM 1125. Suitable for machining steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), non-ferrous metals (ISO N), superalloys (ISO S), and titanium as secondary workpiece materials.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full stop and all spindle motion confirmed halted before handling. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to the recommended feel without over-torquing the insert pocket screw. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface and shim for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Verify insert grade and chip breaker code against the job setup sheet before resuming cutting.
