The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730697 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to ISO code DCMT 11 T3 02-PF 5015, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a 7-degree relief angle, a 0.20 mm corner radius, and a bright uncoated finish suited for finishing and semi-finishing cuts. The PF chip breaker geometry promotes effective chip control in light to medium cutting depths. With a neutral hand designation, it is compatible with both left- and right-hand tool holders designed for the DCMT insert style. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct replacement in production turning applications.
This insert is intended for turning operations on steel as the primary workpiece material, with cast iron as a secondary application. It fits standard DCMT screw-clamped tool holders and is sized with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 5/32-inch insert thickness, making it appropriate for medium-range toolholder bores. Typical use cases include OD turning, facing, and light profiling on production lathes in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance machine shops. The uncoated carbide substrate of grade 5015 is well suited to applications where coating adhesion to the workpiece is a concern or where very sharp cutting edges are required.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-clamped turning toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert. Compatible with tool holders conforming to the DCMT 11 T3 insert seat specification. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P); secondary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO material code K).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder seat without overtightening, which can crack the insert. Verify insert seating and edge orientation before resuming cutting operations.
