The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730689 is a solid carbide turning insert from the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This insert carries the ISO designation DCMT 11 T3 02-MF 1105 and features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation. It is PVD-coated with TiAlN for heat resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The 0.20 mm corner radius and MF chip breaker geometry make it well-suited for finishing and light roughing passes where chip control and surface finish are priorities. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for turning steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The MF chip breaker is optimized for light to medium depths of cut and produces controlled chip formation in these materials. The CoroTurn 107 series is a widely used platform for positive-geometry turning with screw-clamped insert holding, making it a common choice in production turning environments handling a range of ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys. Minimum order quantity is 10 units; package quantity is 1.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting DCMT-style inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. Compatible with toolholders specifying clearance code C and tolerance code M. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P); secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes M, P, and S).
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and all axis motion disabled per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or insert-clamping screw driver to seat the insert firmly against the pocket locating surfaces before torquing the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket for wear, debris, or damage each time an insert is indexed or replaced. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
