The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730618 is a DCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to ISO code DCMT 11 T3 04-PM 1515, it carries a multi-layer TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN coating applied over a carbide substrate for wear resistance and thermal protection at the cutting edge. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a PM chip breaker geometry. With a corner radius of 0.0157 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 0.4421 inches, it is suited for finishing to medium roughing passes. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible DCMT toolholders for high-productivity turning.
This insert is intended for primary use on steel workpieces and performs in secondary applications on stainless steel. The PM chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip evacuation during continuous turning on low-to-medium alloy steels and austenitic stainless grades. It fits within the CoroTurn 107 series system, which is designed for external turning, profiling, and copying. Installation is performed by screw clamping into a compatible DCMT toolholder. The insert is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 10 units per purchase.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-clamping toolholders within the CoroTurn 107 series. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P); secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material code M).
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert, and confirm the insert is fully seated before resuming cutting operations.
